Why Now

The ASEAN F&B opportunity

Packaged food demand is swelling

As developing countries grow, demand for packaged foods expands rapidly. People need to eat and drink — delivery systems change, but the need never goes away.

Global buyers seek distinctive sources

Developed-world buyers are actively looking for lower-cost, culturally distinctive foods and beverages from international sources — exactly what ASEAN offers.

SME producers need a gateway

Low barriers to entry create many sub-scale SMEs with excellent products but limited resources for growth and internationalisation. We provide that bridge.

Halal markets are under-exploited

Global demand for Halal-certified products is fast-growing, driven by rising Muslim populations worldwide. Most markets remain significantly under-served.

Healthier products are opportunities

Incumbents struggle with the shift to healthier food and drinks. For newcomers with agile supply chains, this is a clear competitive advantage.

Food safety as a differentiator

Food safety concerns in Asia are both a challenge and an opportunity. Producers who meet international standards command a premium and earn lasting trust.

Heritage Ingredients

The flavours of Sarawak

Sarawak, the Land of the Hornbill, is home to extraordinary indigenous ingredients unavailable anywhere else in the world. Grandstand Foods works to bring these rare, high-value products to global markets.

  • Terung Asam Sarawak (TAS) — available as juice, jam, in syrup, and fresh fruit
  • Dabai — the "Sarawak olive," rich and buttery with significant export potential
  • Grafting innovation extends TAS viability for commercial planting
  • Direct relationships with Sarawakian producers and growers
🍅

Terung Asam Sarawak

A uniquely sour fruit native to Sarawak, used in traditional cooking and increasingly in premium condiments and beverages.

🫒

Dabai Fruit

Known as the Sarawak olive. Rich, flavourful, and deeply seasonal — a premium ingredient with a compelling story for international buyers.

🥤

TAS Juice & Jam

Value-added products that extend the shelf life of TAS and open export markets previously inaccessible to fresh fruit producers.

🌿

Grafting Innovation

Grafted TAS with Terung Pipit combats soil-borne disease, enabling sustainable commercial cultivation at scale.

Our Story

Born over coffee in Singapore

Grandstand Foods Holding was conceived in mid-2017 by its founder Jonathan Hui, over a conversation at The Grandstand in Singapore. The founding question was simple but powerful.

"What if F&B SMEs in ASEAN had access to the capital, networks and management expertise they need to grow?"

That question became the business. Grandstand Foods provides the four things that hold most great ASEAN food producers back from realising their full potential.

  • 1
Substantial capital New investment for capacity expansion, not just working capital.
  • 2
International distribution An immediate network of F&B distributors across 40 countries.
  • 3
Management practices Improved quality assurance and operational efficiency from day one.
  • 4
Exit pathway A route for owners to exit at higher valuations, at the right time.
Timeline
  • 2017
Grandstand Foods founded over coffee at The Grandstand, Singapore, by Jonathan Hui.
  • 2018–2020
First producer partnerships established across Singapore, Malaysia, and the ASEAN region, including Sarawakian ingredient sourcing.
  • 2021–2023
Distribution network expanded. International buyers engaged across 40+ countries for sauces, noodles, and beverage categories.
  • Today
Grandstand Foods actively seeks new producer partners and institutional buyers. Coffee is still the preferred way to begin a conversation.
